In 2021, Pope Francis established the celebration of the World Day for Grandparents and Elderly on the fourth Sunday of July, near the liturgical memorial of Sts. Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus (July 26). It can be celebrated on this date, or in the United States is transferred to coincide with the celebration of National Grandparents Day on the first Sunday after Labor Day.
