Becoming a Catholic is a spiritual journey of preparation, study and prayer called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Through RCIA, an adult becomes a fully participating member of the Catholic Church – receiving the sacraments of initiation (baptism, first Holy Communion and confirmation). It consists of four learning periods, with the goal being welcomed into full communion with the Church and inclusion in the life of the faith community.
