New Year’s Day & Feast of Mary, Mother of God

New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, is also the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. This feast honoring Mary closes out the Christmas octave, the eight days following the birth of Christ. It is an occasion to remember Mary as a model of perfect Christian discipleship and ask for her prayers to God on our behalf. Mary, Mother of God is also the patroness of the Diocese of Charlotte.
