Amanda’s Story

“My name is Amanda. I am a single mother of three beautiful children, a three-month-old baby girl named Anna, and two boys; Michael is two, and Daniel is five years old. We live in Burke County with my brother.

Before the pandemic started, I was working with my brother on a farm and making ends meet. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, my brother and I lost our jobs, and the last year has been a very difficult time for us.

My brother is working, but we do not have the money necessary to cover all of our expenses with me not currently working. Through our church, we heard about the services offered by Catholic Charities in Lenoir.

The help I have received from Catholic Charities has given me economic relief by providing some of my children’s basic needs.

During this challenging time for our family, Catholic Charities Wee Care Ministry has helped provide my children with diapers, wipes, baby clothes, and other essential items for the last five months.

For all the help they have been able to offer me, I am very grateful! God bless Catholic Charities and its great work!”
