The Mission of the Faith Formation Office is to assist in the implementation of the Bishop’s Vision for the Faith Formation Mission of the Diocese of Charlotte. The Faith Formation Office provides programs which transmit the Gospel and so invite people to a personal and intentional faith in Jesus Christ. The programs offer the knowledge of how to practice the Catholic faith with coherent integrity as respecting and responsible citizens of this world and the next.
Goals of Faith Formation
- Promote the knowledge of the Catholic faith
- Promote a knowledge of the meaning of the Liturgy and Sacraments
- Promote moral formation in Jesus Christ
- Teach the Catholic how to pray with Christ
- Prepare the Catholic to live in community and to participate actively in the life and mission of the Catholic Church through the parish and diocese
- To promote a missionary spirit that prepares the faithful to be present as Christians in society

The Northern Regional Office has a small resource library of videos/dvds in Spanish and English that are loaned to parishes/missions. The coordinator builds community with the various parish catechetical leaders and youth ministers in the region by holding meetings; strengthening catechetical endeavors by organizing ongoing catechetical training in the region; assessing catechetical needs and educational materials. She advises parishes regarding diocesan catechetical and sacramental policies. She facilitates adult faith formation, sacramental prep catechesis, and confirmation program workshops and retreats in various settings.

Catechist Certification
To assist with training for catechists, the Education Vicariate now offers three programs leading to a certificate of completion. With each of these programs the catechists are asked to be in frequent contact with the local Parish Catechetical Program Leader, fellow catechists in the parish and Region, and the Regional Coordinator for continuing formation opportunities and activities.

The Diocese of Charlotte recognizes that every human being is created in the image and likeness of God; by virtue of their baptism, are people of God. Those with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges deserve access to faith formation according to their capabilities.
