Any subsequent alteration of parish boundaries or reassignment of a parish shall, ipso facto, effect a corresponding alteration of the boundaries of the affected Vicariate or Vicariates.
Any parish, quasi-parish, mission, oratory, institution, ministry site, chaplaincy, or other ecclesiastical entity hereafter erected, established, designated, recognized, or otherwise constituted within the Diocese of Charlotte shall belong to the Vicariate within whose territory it is located or principally exercises its ministry, unless otherwise expressly determined by the Diocesan Bishop. Priests entrusted with responsibility for the care of souls therein shall likewise belong to that Vicariate.
The presbyters of these Vicariates are expected and strongly exhorted to meet regularly, undertake those tasks assigned to them, and join efforts together in those matters affecting their Vicariate. They are also to cooperate and collaborate with the diocesan bishop in the governance of the diocese according to the norm of law.
This Decree takes effect on October 28, 2026. All previous assignments of parishes, missions, institutions, and other ecclesiastical entities to vicariates within the Diocese of Charlotte are hereby revoked and replaced by the assignments contained in this decree. Any provision to the contrary is expressly abrogated.
