Good Friday and the celebration of the Lord’s Passion is a somber service that commemorates the crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus. It is a day of watchful prayer, as well as a day of fasting and abstinence for most Catholics. Good Friday liturgies include veneration of the cross, and often, Passion plays for the faithful to remember Our Lord’s Passion and death on a cross for the salvation of the world.
