St Jerome Book Battle

The St. Jerome Book Battle is a diocesan-sponsored voluntary reading enrichment program that encourages students to read books from a select list of 15 titles. The books selected reinforce lessons taught in the Education in Virtue program taught in our diocesan schools. Under the guidance of their librarians/advisors, participating students will read the selected books and may engage in a variety of activities to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the books.

Each participating school will send one team to compete in the St. Jerome Book Battle competition for their grade level (4th/5th grade or 6th-8th grade). Teams will be asked questions about the selected books for their age group and will be awarded points for their answers. Teams will compete against one team at a time in various preliminary rounds. The two highest scoring teams for each grade level competition will then compete against each other in a championship round. The highest scoring team wins for each competition.

The diocesan competitions will take place at the MACS Fine Arts Center at Charlotte Catholic High School. Date TBD.
