ST. VINCENT’S 50TH BIRTHDAY

clt_stvincent_1stchapelOn October 29, 1961, St. Vincent Mission Chapel in Charlotte was dedicated by the Most Rev. Bishop Vincent Waters of the Diocese of Raleigh. The chapel was to be temporarily located in the gymnasium, which was the first building constructed for St. Vincent Mission. However this temporary arrangement lasted for almost 40 years until finally in 1999, a church was constructed and then dedicated by Bishop WIlliam Curlin. St. Vincent was elevated to the status of parish in 1965 and Fr. James Noonan was appointed the first pastor.
