ST. LEO HOSPITAL IN GREENSBORO

In Feburary 1954, St. Leo Hospital in Greensboro closed its doors. The Hospital, which was opened in 1906, was staffed by the Sisters of Charity and also functioned as a School for Nursing. It was placed under the patronage of Pope St. Leo the Great in deference to Abbot-Bishop Leo Haid, OSB who was, at the time, Apostolic Vicar of North Carolina. The building that housed the hospital was later renovated and became Notre Dame High School.
